Good Words Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 16, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the Good Words iPhone app (the “App”) handles information when you use its daily readings, Favorites, online tools, widget, and optional iCloud backup.

1. Accounts, Advertising, and Tracking

Good Words does not require an account with the developer. The App does not include advertising, tracking, or an analytics SDK. If you email support, the information you choose to send is used to respond to your message.

2. Information Stored on Your Device

The App stores your Favorite verses, quotes, and humor entries; their selected translations and pin choices; app settings; and downloaded content and lookup caches on your device. The Home Screen widget can read the daily content cache and preferred translation through storage shared with the App.

Your Favorites are not sent to GoodWords.Today for daily-content selection. You can edit or delete Favorites in the App. Removing the App ordinarily removes its local files, but does not automatically delete an iCloud backup you previously made.

3. Daily Content and Internet Feeds

The App and widget request daily readings from GoodWords.Today. When Third Party Content is enabled, the App can also request additional quotes from GoodWords.Today and daily verse information from YouVersion, Our Manna, and Bible Gateway. Requests to online services may expose ordinary connection information, including your IP address, to those services and their hosting providers.

The daily-content requests do not upload your Favorites or app settings. If a service is unavailable, its optional reading may not appear; the App can use a small built-in collection when its primary daily download is unavailable.

4. Bible Passage Lookups and External Links

When you preview, compare, import, or display a Bible passage that needs a lookup, the App may send its reference and requested translation to a Bible text provider, including Crossway, YouVersion, Tyndale, or API.Bible. The request does not include your complete Favorites library. The provider may receive standard network information such as your IP address and handles it under its own practices.

If you follow a study, full-chapter, copyright, or other external link, the destination app or website may receive the passage reference or other information contained in the link, along with ordinary connection information. Those destinations have their own privacy practices.

5. Optional iCloud Backup

If you choose Back Up Now in Settings, Good Words saves a snapshot of your Favorites to your private iCloud database using Apple CloudKit. This includes saved verse translations and pin choices, but not your app settings or daily feed caches. The backup is associated with your Apple iCloud account and is not a continuous sync service.

You can restore or delete the backup from the iCloud Backup section in Settings. The developer does not receive your backup through GoodWords.Today.

6. Sharing and Your Choices

Sharing a reading uses the iOS share sheet. The recipient or service you select receives only the content you choose to share. You can turn Third Party Content off in Settings, delete individual Favorites in My Favorites, and delete an iCloud backup in Settings.

7. Security and Policy Changes

Good Words uses HTTPS for its internet requests and stores local files using iOS app storage. No internet service or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure. If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date.
